Local Bookshops

Waterstones

Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, 15-16 Kings Walk, Hastings TN34 1PH, UK – 01424 722253

I love this bookshop. You can spend as long as you like there. Chairs upstairs if you want to sit down and the cafe is good. Food limited but cakes are excellent. Reasonably priced - thank goodness Costa is no longer there.

The shop is rather tight to get around, especially with a wheelchair or pushchair. They do stock a wide range of books but sometimes it is not easy to track down a particular book, or indeed a member of staff to help. The coffee shop is great with a wide variety of drinks.

Bookbuster

39 Queens Road, Hastings TN34 1RE, UK – 01424 539726

Great book shop. Unending selection and full of surprise finds. For shop fronts it’s one of my favourites! I really wonder where the missing letters have gone though.....

You have to check out this lovely and dirt cheap bookstore. Run by the hardworking and inimitable Tim Barton. Only beef I have is the no chairs to sit on issue at poetry events.....😌

Hare & Hawthorn Bindery & Bookshop

51 George St, Hastings TN34 3EA, UK – 01424 429909

This bookshop, bindery and stationary shop is a treasure in Hastings; like a miniature literary Liberty store, tucked away down a backstreet that makes it feel slightly magical to discover. A treat for all those who love beautiful books and things related. Stylish, friendly, and impossible to visit without buying something.

A wonderful place to visit, home to beautifully bound books, fine paper and cards. Neal restored one of my old books with care and consideration
